1992 240 Wagon - starter or alternator or not at all? 200

1992 Volvo 240 Automatic w/ 206,000 miles on it.

I was driving on the freeway last night when ALL of the dashboard warning lights began flickering on and off. After about 20 minutes some of them turned on completely while the others still flickered on and off. The "SRS" and "ABS" and "battery" warning lights were on.

The I noticed the temperature gauge as well as the fuel gauge had either lost power or were not functioning. I had just filled up and the gas gauge showed "empty".

I pulled off to the side of the road and and while idling the engine was struggling to idle, so I shut the car off, thinking that maybe a fuse had blown. (The fuel pump fuse blows all the time.) The car would not start again. No response at all from the starter. Still had plenty of electrical power from the battery. Just turn the key and - nothing.

I had it towed to Midas and tried starting again - nothing. The next morning, the guy at Midas said it started right up, but then it was struggling to idle so he shut it off right away, and it would not start up again. Turn the key and - nothing. But still plenty of juice in the battery

I thought at first it was an alternator problem. Midas however said that the starter will need to be replaced first. (they said it's burned out) before they do anything else. They quoted me $350 for this. They then told me that after that they suspect the fuel pump AND the alternator.

I am now stranded right now 200 miles from home at least until monday. I just want to get it home where I can work on it myself. Any advice? Thank you in advance. Let me know if there is any other info that I can provide.
