Headlamps 200 1989

Ok, so those plastic, square "awesome looking" headlamp covers, when they get all foggy on the inside and dusty/funky looking, what's a good way that anyone has found to clean those?... Typically, the covers might be hanging on by a thread, and pulling them off is no problem. Then, cleaning w/just soap and water and drying and sticking them back on is no problem. I've used "liquid nails" before, around the outside of them, to stick them back on, and that has worked good. What has anyone else used to stick them back on?
Also, what if they look like they're put on pretty well? What's a good technique to pry them off for a good cleaning?
