PV544 carb/manifold gaskets/insulator 444-544

The carb/manifold connection is different between a '58 PV parts car and my '60 PV driver. The '58 seems to have a thinner phenolic insulator between two conventional gaskets. The '60 has a thicker insulator made of a rubbery material between the two conventional gaskets. The latter is fastened to the manifold bolts with spring-loaded nuts. The '58 is fastened normally with only nuts and lockwashers.
Available parts listings don't refer to the rubber gasket with springs under the nuts. Is this perhaps a mod made by a previous owner or a feature with a short production run? Are the two systems interchangeable?
