You are correct, the bulk power cap could be the issue. One of these days, I'll remember to connect work with bricks. Today I resolved a data integrity issue on a ground opto/mag isolator with a 7pF cap on the clock input line. Note that the EMI fields are a bit higher on this project than a horn circuit "ergo no mental connection"... 2.75MW generator system.

Excellent call on your part. I still say that many pink label ECUs could be repaired with capacitor replacements... along with the fuel pump relay driver replacement. Just wish I still had a "spare" LH-2.4 car to prove it on!
