It is usually best to keep all the information for any single problem in one thread if possible. By starting a new thread people don't know what has been suggested or tried up to that point.

An alternator is just another expensive part of the electrical system. Personally I do not think it is related to the starter cutting out during starting attempts. That is the real problem, let's chase that.
