What would cause a bent spark plug tip at the connection? 120-130

You cracked the tip while installing it, because the socket slipped. After putting the cap on, the crack enlarged and the tip was pulled lightly by the plug wire.

As the others have mentioned, get a better socket with a rubber insert. Not only will this prevent the problem, the rubber insert will catch the plug so that it doesn't fall down to the ground and break.

Torque? Hand thread the plug until it seats, then use the socket to snug it up. 25lbs isn't much. Put a thin layer of anti-sieze on the thread of new plugs to make extraction easier.
