AIC Trouble 700

I just replaced my faulty thermostat on my 87 760 turbo. Started the car, warmed it up, and it was running perfectly. About an hour later I got in the car to go somewhere and started it up and the idle took off to around 2000 rpm ? I have checked for all kinds of things, vacuum leaks AMM etc etc.I thought maybe I knocked a vacuum hose off or wire or something, but then again the car ran perfectly after the repair ? All I can seem to diagnose is that when I unplug the AIC the idle returns to normal. Plug it back in and it opens all the way up and the idle is at 2000 again. Anyone know why this might be happening ? I have cleaned the AIC and it seems fine. Why would the ECU be opening up the AIC all the way like this ???? Engine wont start with AIC plugged in...I assume because it is fully open and allowing too much air ?

Thanks for your HELP.
