steering box lower seal replacement 120-130

I've got a pretty serious leak at the bottom of my steering box. I've R&R'ed a number of these complete, but I've never been into one. It has no slop and lots of adjustment left showing (threads above the stop nut), so I'm not looking to tear it down and rebuild it, but I would like to replace the seal.

How much of a job is this, and can I just pull the pitman arm and remove and replace the seal? I haven't pulled the arm yet, but am hoping that once I do, with the car on a lift, I'd be able to pull the seal out and install a new one without special tools. Thinking I could drill a small hole(s) in the metal in the seal and use a small slide hammer grabbing a screw in the hole to pull it.

Anybody had experience with this?

thanks
