940 Temp gauge 900 1994

I have owned several 240s, a 740 and, unfortunately, 1 760. I just bought a 94 940 Turbo and I'm new to this forum so I apologize if this has been covered. I noticed that my temp gauge goes immediately to mid range as soon as the key is turned on. Seems like I remember this from years ago but would appreciate any advice before I start throwing parts at it.
