Commuting in a 142 140-160

my daily driver and only car for 14 years has been my 68 145. i've done so many things to my car but in terms of reliability id recommend replacing the ignition points with an electronic trigger. that said you already have the most reliable car in the galaxy. just make sure she's tuned and topped off. keep in mind its still a 40 year old car, and old parts break, rust, etc. Most of the things that left me on the roadside have been pretty hard to anticipate, but more often than not i have been able to limp her home with some junk in the trunk and swearing, that said get a AAA card and carry basic tools.
Now as far as the driving experience there is room for improvement/modernization, I was very impressed when i upgraded my headlights to hella h4s, pretty affordable and they open up a word of replaceable bulb options. the difference at night was amazing, i strongly recommend them to all who live in the country, mountains or who simply don't want to strain their eyes anymore.
The standard ipd suspension bits (shocks, springs and swaybars) along with good tires will make her much more stable at high speed and weaving through traffic on the way home will become a joy. although I should mention spring upgrades are becoming sparse, summit racing actually offers many sizes and weights of 5" springs that will fit in the front, 240 springs can be used in the rear. i could go on for ever but this is the basic stuff that comes to the front of my mind. enjoy! you have a very great car that just might last the rest of your life!
