140-160 Debris in cowling 140-160

Anybody has this problem? The grilled cowling right below the windshield gets full of leaf matter and I see no way to get the debris out! The water trickles out fine on either side through the drainage holes but the only other access are two nickel sized holes in the engine bay and try as I may I can't get much of the junk out through there. I imagine one can go through the inside taking apart heater box and such but I am trying to avoid that...
Any wise advice?
