Bounce the car up and down aggressively at each corner and see if it keeps moving. It should stop within 2-3 bounces after you let go. If the springs are original, they should be replaced.

I did the entire suspension over, front and rear, as I had no idea how old the parts were, and there was no indication from the two previous owners that any suspension work was done.

If you're redoing the suspension on a vintage car with new bushings and sway bars, why wouldn't you do the shocks and springs as well. You'd be amazed at how good it rides after this relatively small investment and quite simple bit of work. You'll have everything apart anyway.
