Alternator belts different lengths. 200 1991

Two Gates-7365. The first was a tight fit. The second went on easy. When I attempted to take out the slack the second belt was still loose. The identical numbers were also printed on the belts, but the format was slightly different. They also varied ever so slightly in color. Perhaps a difference in manufacturers or simply a different batch. Has anyone else experienced this? Don't tell me there's suppose to be a difference...
