Thanks so much for earlier advice.
Today my car ran for a few blocks and then died at an intersection and would not start. The car ran for perhaps 5 minutes total. After it died, all instrument warning lights went away. The headlight switch was on at the time.
A few hours later, after it was towed, I started to check things out. Still no instrument lights when key turned to on position. Voltage reading a bit low. After I turned the headlight switch off, I was able to start the car. Still no instrument panel lights.
Later, I turned the engine off. I then checked the instrument panel lights but got no results with headlight switch in any position.
The fuses for the instrument panel appear to be good (but I did not replace them or check for continuity).
So, my question is, is there something that would cut power to the dash warning lights that might also affect starting and running? Could it be the headlight switch? Or should I look for an unrelated electrical problem, such as the Fuel injection relay.
Last summer we replaced the power stage, the crank position sensor, the radio suppression relay, and the fuel pump relay, but of course one of those could have failed again. I think the fuel injection relay is old.
I have to dig out the wiring diagram but I thought I might ask for suggestions in the meantime.
