ADVICE SOUGHT S90-V90 98

Guys:

Two days ago my beloved 94/965 was totalled by an SUV. In my humble opinion, 965/V90 Volvos have been the best Volvo models built. Thus I am commencing to seek out a V90 circa 1997-1998. What I want to know is how much should I expect to pay for a V90 with about 40-50K. My local dealer has a V90 in a perfect shape, but he wants $26, which seems to me quite expensive proposition, since I can get a brand new V40 for this money. Thanks in advance for everyone's input.
