no reverse - overdrive? 200 1980

Gradually my 244 with 4 speed + OD has increased in "slipping" when trying to reverse. Initially I thought it was the clutch, except that going forward is fine.

Now the car will sometimes sit for a couple of minutes in reverse until it will move a bit. I think it might be the overdrive (which has not worked for a year or so!). Anyone else ever have this happen?
