Help! suddenly smoke 900 1993

Hi:

I hope some of you experts can help out here. The 940 turbo has suddenly begun emitting smoke at startup and idle and lowspeed driving, and even perhaps high speed? The engine has 85k on it and I cannot imagine why it should begin to emit smoke? We just refueled after running the tank fairly near to the red zone, but it started in earnest after that refueling. My wife noticed the problem when driving around town the smoke rolling out the rear end. The performance does not appear diminished but I think it is sucking more fuel than usual. I hope this is not an oil burning problem? Could there be a plausible cause for this sudden development? My Volvo mechanic is out of town until the middle of the month. What can I do in the meantime? I did put a NAPA brand injector cleaner in today.

Thanks,

Alan
