Still having cold starting woes with the B21E. (I never drive it anymore, but still like to keep it going!) It will stall a couple of times when starting cold, then not be able to rev for about 20 or 30 seconds.. you open the throttle, and the engine bogs down. Open it wide, and the thing cuts out. I had this trouble before I got the unit replaced (with a second hand unit, mind you dammit). Hmm... thinks I. I disconnected the plug from the unit and started it from cold again. Same crap. So the unit may as well not even be there, because it's not controlling the pressure at cold temps. This could be the wiring, i suppose. What should I be looking for in terms of voltages, etc? Does this sort of thing happen regularly to other bricksters?

While looking today to snag one in a junk yard, I was astounded to note a 165 with electronic fuel injectors. Whenever I had seen an advertisment for a 164 "with EFI", I always assumed that they meant (CIS) fuel injected. I didn't realise that there even was EFI back in the days before the 240 even came out. How on earth do the injectors fire? Is it some sort of mechanical actuation to close the injector switch, or is it semiconductor controlled? I am intrigued to know.

P.S. There's something about that Volvo that stops me from letting go. Ahhh.. those Swedes sure know how to build a car.
