Re: Hall Effect Sensor 700 1985

The distributor is indexed to the cam and only goes in one way. If you dissamble the distributor re-install the drive dog in the same relative location to the rotor. It can be installed 180 degrees out. The Hall effects do last a long time, but if you are thinking of replacing it I would buy a complete distributor base from IPS in Boise. The new distributor base includes the Hall effect, wiring connector, a new seal and runs about $100 US which is less than $40 more than the Hall effect sensor. Be carful to preserve the wiring connector on the chassis side of the ignition.
