A/C Drier replacement 900 1996

Well, the 960 from hell has done it again. Now the A/C has crapped out (funny how it picks the summer to do this). There is lots of red dust around the compressor and clutch, so I assume the clutch has died. I planned to get a used clutch/compressor from Erie and just put that in. But, my local Tech suggested I get a New Drier/Reciever to install with the used clutch/compressor. What do you all think. He is only going to charge me $210.00 to install the clutch/compressor and drier and evac and refill the system. Seemed resonable. So, another $500 down the drain. Would not be so bad if I had not already spent 3K already this year.
