'91+ windshield on a '79 242 GT? 200 1979

I've read on here before that it's possible to retrofit the newer ('91+) windshield with the one piece rubber grommet surround to the earlier cars, eliminating the troublesome glued on plastic clips and metal trim strip. Is there anyone on here who's had this done and can give me some backup in terms of part numbers, etc? The windshield in my '79 242 GT has a crack along the bottom and leaks in the bottom corners. The glass shop I took it to didn't have a clue about using the later style windshield.
