1971 142E 140-160

I often wondered about the tach mounted on top of the dash - I figured it must be a factory item but dealer-installed. Who would want a hole in their dash if they opted for the rally gauges!

The brochure I have on the 142E's (only) shows a red one on the cover, but it isn't a bright red, probably the 'rust red' someone spoke about.

My 142E was brought in to the USA thru Volvo's European delivery plan, arriving in Kansas with paperwork showing a price $3235, and taxing him $97. So I guess there would be no 'dealer profit' reflected there, plus who knows what arrangments were made for the shipping to the USA.
