no spark 700 1987

Car would not start when cold (in morning) until I left key in full on position for 2+ minutes. This went on for 30 days. Now it won't start, and there is no spark at the plugs. I have replace the cap and rotor (b 230f) and the coil to cap wire because it regestered on the OM meter as "open". Is it my Hall Sensor? And if so, how do I get that out of the distributer? Do I have to remove the distributer from the head?
Thank you for your help.
