Kickdown Cable Jammed 200 1983

My throttle became stuck while driving the other day. As I pushed harder on the accelerater it suddenly gave. After later looking at it to see what reason might have caused it to become stuck I noticed that the Kickdown Cable had come loose from the throttle assembly. I tried to reattach it and noticed it was jammed. It would not retract or extend. Could this be the cable or the Kickdown cable cam in the transmission. If it is the cam how difficult is it to repair it.
