Transmission issues 200 1980

I presume you are talking about a manual trans in your post. There are a few things to check. See if there is any oil in the trans if not an oil change may help. Also I read a post here the other day that recommened someone to check and
adjust the shift lockout. There is a lockout under the shifter boot that protects
you from going into reverse unless you lift the ring on the shifter. If this is
adjusted wrong it could make second clash. Also while you are checking the oil
you can inspect the shifter linkage. If none of this helps then you may want
to start looking for a good used trans.

Volvo trannys are tough but you can't always make up for years of abuse and
never having the oil changed.
