HEAVY gauge wire to Fuel Pump and a wild hair up my.....voltage....

Before I surf over to TB, has anyone contemplated or completed running heavy gauge wire right from the battery/alternator to the fuel pump? I mean like 8 gauge or something? With a local relay, using the original FP power wires as the "switching" circuit? (and of coure your new HD wire and FP as the switched circuit)

The voltage drop to the fuel pump on most cars (Volvo included) is not insignificant. Measure it! Less than 11.5V at the pump, closer to 11 or less I bet. Not that the car won't run OK as configured from the factory, but in high acceleration, safety escape times, everything counts.

OF course I would do a proffesional job, with a fuse/CB and the wire would need protection, plus the relay would have to be super duty and well located and protected.

Am I whacked?
