Center console (the parking brake one) solutions to fixing... 200

My tan parking brake cover in my 91 244 is craked in half.

It still looks ok, but it's split right where the brake goes down.

I also busted up the top once when i bumped it with my hand.

Volvo plastic is so fragile, that I don't want to buy a replacement on ebay, for myself to break either on the install, or 3 weeks later when I accidentally hit it with my hand.

Have any of you fabricated your own center consoles?

If so, I'm curious what you used, or if you have any plans or photos.

I was thinking 1/16" sheet metal and some bondo to shape :)

I'm looking for solutions to a better parking brake console! :)

I don't need to have the storage cup or the rear ash tray.. thus, it doesn't have to be the same shape.

Any ideas:

-my car has seat heater switches.

thanks for any tips or tricks,

Luke
