Engine Jerks and stoped in a stop sign 700

every 50K miles or 2 years is the max for a tune up. Parts alone (OEM) run about $100ish. Try fcpgroton.com for good prices. If you do the timing and the belts, add another $50 in parts. I've never gotten a tune up done by a mechanic, I sure it's about 1 labor and 1.5-2.5 hours for the timing belt. Get an estimate.

If I were in your place I would do the basic tune up yourself. It's not that hard. You'll need an 8mm box wrench to take off the distributor cap. It's straight forward but take your time.

be sure to replace these things
air filter
cap /rotor
wires
plugs
coolant
flame trap
