tranny swap 700 1990

Hello fellow bricksters!

I've been made a very interesting proposition. A friend of mine has a 1991 744Ti/M46. I drive a 1990 745Ti/AW71. He's interested in selling his car since his girlfriend can't/won't drive the standard. He likes the car (duh...) and has owned it since new. Instead of selling his car, he has expressed interest in swapping transmissions. Provided that we can find a mechanic that knows his stuff, and would do it for a decent price, is there any reason not to do this? Technically all the parts are there... but can anyone think of any snags that may arise from this? Your input is greatly appreciated.

ps. As for the post earlier this week re. the oil leak, i haven't had a chance to go see 'her' again since... still in storage and very busy with school. Will let you know. It's been suggested to me that the culprit could be that the oil filter might not have been properly lubricated at my last oil change... If it were that simple (and I hope it is!) then I'm in the clear! Will keep you posted. Thanks.
