Addition of 780 EQ to 740 Stereo: Plug-N-Play or Frankenstein? 700 1989

Over the weekend, I saw an Ebay auction of a digital graphic equalizer from a 780. The listing claims that the EQ will directly connect to the TD-6141 head unit in any 740 or 760. I didn't buy the EQ, but it made me curious about possibly doing this in the future.

Is it true that the connection will work, and if so, does the 740 have the necessary dash space to house the EQ (the only option I see is the bin next to the cig lighter)? I'm not familiar with differences that may exist between the 740 and 780 dashboards.
