With a 164 you have to remember that it was aimed essentially at the "old men who smoke cigars market". Between a PV and a 164 you're not comparing apples with apples. PV is serious fun to drive very positive, it turns in well, its light but it is equally very obvious that in essence it's a 60 year old design. Just look though at the potency a PV still has in historic rallying.

A 164 is much more effortless. The 6 cylinder engine has decent power, though not that great given its size and outrageous appetite for petrol. The engine is very heavy and it shows around bends. I've owned several excellent 164's over the years, after a while I just stopped using them. Want a big engined cruiser, buy a Mercedes. If you take that rally analogy a bit further a 300SE fintail can hack it in historic rallying, I don't know of any 164 with any succes in motorsport. The PV on the other hand is still unadulterated joy after years of driving them, and I can forgive a PV just about anything, it brings a smile to my face.
