If I were you, I'd put the metal grates back in the air mass meter. There is a thread on the turbobricks messageboard all about this. The AMM was designed with the grates for a reason. There is a link to a website explaining all about it, but I don't have it. It was on the t-bricks thread though. The performance improvements from doing that add up to about nothing, and you just put your engine at risk (this is what the website basically explained).
