Volvo 960 Periodic Starting Problems

I own a 1994, 960 wagon. It has about 110,000 miles and occassionally does not start. This problem usually happens after the car has been running only a brief (i.e. less than one minute) time, or after a short drive (i.e. less than 1-2 miles). When it does not start, there is no cranking, no sound whatsoever. I only have to wait three to five minutes and then it starts right up, as if nothing happened. There is no problem while the car is running or while being driven. It runs very well, but I would like to understand what is wrong and what it may cost to fix. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Tony
