Chances are the parts guy is giving you the wrong bearing/seal. I would think they're different from the integrated hub and the big brake separate hub/rotor conversion.

On the good news side, evidently your car got the separate hub/rotor conversion installed after 87 when they were developed to cure brake wear problems with the inadequate integrated hub/rotor front brake.

Look in the FAQ and see if those separate hub/rotor brake assemblies use a sealed/pressed bearing (my 90 740T apparently does, but it's girling vice the bendix if abs you may have) If the parts guy lists separate bearings/seals for the two different hubs, I'd probably try and replace them.
