Electrical System Diagnosis? 700

Hi,

Something strange happened this morning. This was the first cold morning of the season (around 40 deg F) and when I started the car, the headlights were dim and all the indicator lights on the instrument cluster stayed on with the engine running. When I revved up the engine, the lights became very dim but didn’t go off. After about 30 seconds they all went off and the headlights became bright again and I drove off. I have to mention that during the whole thing the engine wasn't shaking or anything. What could be wrong? Is something on the verge of dying? Thanks for any advice.
