ECU readout point? 700

I don't claim any knowledge of the ECU, but after it took an extended hunt (with the aid of a good Volvo shop)to trace driveability problems to my ECU, I sure would like to know more.

Seems to me Mr. SCO is on the right track in wanting a real-time readout of primary inputs. It would be the absolutely best troubleshooting aid for the driver/technician. In fact, all cars need a "Gearhead Option Package" that would include an electronic dash with this kind of display.

Is it likely that Volvo has built in some sort of readout point, even if (or maybe, especially if) they intended that only dealer technicians would be able to access it?
