radiator level 900

I recently changed out my oil cooler lines right below the oil filter as they were just about to split off. When I did this I did not drain the cooling system I just pulled the hoses and let the negative pressure keep most of the coolant in the system, I lost about a quart or so. Since then I have noticed that the overfill has been low at or near min. Is it possible I have an air lock, car runs fine no overheating no appreciable leaks, any advice would be much appreciated. I am not driving the car that often I live real close to campus and walk daily, driver her two, three times a week, always let it get up to opearting tempearture, however it more often short distance driving, waht things should I keep an eye on due to the new driving conditions.
Also it seems to me that my oil smells rich in gas more than usual especially when I check the oil is this normal, or could the mix be rich.
Thanks,
Moles
