Tow trucks be damned. The one that towed my 145 said not to worry about tire pressures, then tire went flat and came apart demolishing the front skirt and fender.
About the rough feel - it's common for irregular corrosion patterns or warped brake rotors to cause an irregular drag. See if you can get brake drag issue out of the picture by removing drums or pressing pads back into calipers.
Another likely culprit is the driveshaft. Check for failed u-joints. Compltetly failed ujoints where the needles have fallen out will go clunk-clunk if you grab shaft and shake. To check for failing u-joints you have to take the driveshaft out. Then any roughness on pivoting a ujoint in any direction is indication of incipient failure.

Thanks for the other advice guys. I'm gonna order some bearings and seals for my rear axle. I'd much rather err on the safe side and replace bearings that maybe don't need it rather than break down on the road. Gotta get me an axle puller slide hammer. I've jerry-rigged this operation before, but am too old 'n tired for that kind of rigamarole anymore! I'll keep yall posted!
