If you have a bunch of switches and as "ikiller" states they are help together with hardware you can open, you should definately open one up and check out its internal contacts...what you find may be surprisingly easy to make right.

Remember that 6V systems require about double the current of a 12V system, so the contacts have to work well...anymore than a little heat during use is a sign of a poor contact causing "resistance heating"...not good, and it usually only gets worse...my general rule is: If its too hot to touch then it has to be made better.
