It's certainly possible the "new" caliper you put on could also be bad. Where did you get it? A car sitting for a few years (say in a junk yard) is a prime suspect for bad brake components.

If it's not the caliper, then it would seem to point to the slide-pins. After all, the pins and the caliper are the only moving parts. So if it's not the caliper, then it almost has to be the slide-pins.
