I purchased an 1800 in January of this year with the thoughts that I could drive it year round ( I am in Ontario where the winters are severe ). I drove it from Toronto to Ottawa on a nice day and realized that driving this car in the winter would destroy it. All that said now that the nice weather is here I do want to drive it- everywhere.
I had the car out on a raining day and no problems until the next day when I left a book on the floor and it was soaked. I removed the carpets to dry them and the floor. I assumed the water may have come in from the air vents, under the cowl, so I carefully removed the rubber seals on the vent itself, siliconed them down, checked that the drain holes were actually draining and I thought I had the problem solved.
A few hours later I washed the car - carefully - not to direct too much water towards the front of the car and the floors had water on them again.
I am stumped, I even tried pouring water over the windshield to see if the vents are still leaking but could not see anything dripping. The only thing I suspect is that the water may run in from the top of the door, into the fender well and makes its way in through the fender to the floor.
Has anyone had this problem, any advice greatly appreciated.
