My Earl Scheib Experience ... 700 1987

I've used Maaco and Peach for cheap paint jobs which is what any $300 $400 job it going to be. In both cases there was a lot of orang peel in the finish. On my most recent, a '93 Ford F150 pickup, I saw it from across the parking lot. Pretty bad. As stated, prep is just as important, maybe moreso, than final application.

As a contrast, the front bumper on this truck is a big stamped steel affair that was losing it's factory silver paint. I pulled it off and over a weekend in the garage with a sanding block, lots of sandpaper, filler (for deep scratches) and spray can primer and top coat got a factory finish that made the Peach job look even shabbier. I applied and wet sanded the primer at least 4 times and did the same with the top silver coat.

I was selling the truck and the job did the trick for me though. The original finish had taken a beating in the woods and hauling to the dump.
