Advice To Keep A PVR Running Strong... 200 1979

This is a wide subject area so I will try to make this as simple as possible.

I have a 79 264GL and I have been clicking and reading alot on the B27F engine and the camshaft lubrication problem it has. I have heard and read suggestions from others to use synthetic oils and make sure to change the oil 2.5-3K Miles. That I do. But one archive I read made a note about a fix to the poor lubrication problem by having the oil passages fixed somehow, I would think making them bigger? Another said to just get the B28F engine which had most of these bugs fixed. I would like to know of any fixes or suggestions anyone may have for keeping this engine running as long as possible. And if the day ever came when the B27F needed to be replaced, would a B28F be the best way to go, or would one of those V-6/V-8 conversions do the trick. I would like to keep it all Volvo if you know what I mean.

If any one can help shed some light on this subject I would be thankful. I have fallen in love with this 2 ton monster and I wont let her go at any cost. My wife on the other hand is on sale for $5.00, Free S/H. :-P Thank you all in advance for your advice. Keep on bricking!!!
