A few things I have to do this weekend. ball joint & pinion seal. 700

I did a general inspection of my car today to see how it's doing. Turns out I have some play in my DS ball joint, and a leaking pinion seal. Both of these seem pretty straightforward but I was wondering what caveats to look out for. I was reading the FAQ, which mentioned something about a compression sleeve (regarding the pinion seal). If mine is equipped with one, will it need to be replaced? Or can it be re-used? Also, how much of a hard time should I expect when trying to pull the yoke/flange?
