87 Trubo Wagon that runs poorly after sitting 700 1987

I have 1987 Turbo Wagon that starts perfectly. On the first drive of the day you can put it in gear and get started fine but on when accelerating the car is extremely sluggish. Will be like that till you get it up to speed.
Stop at the next stop sign and it will do this again and again. After a period of time, still not sure how much, it will start to run perfectly. I have a friend is a Volvo mechanic and he let me borrow a air mass device and I installed and it did not fix the problem. We are still trying things to figure this problem out, but I thought someone out here might have had/solved a similar problem.
Thanks for your help.....
