1996 Volvo 960 Missing on #3 900

I have a 1996 Volvo 960...I just replaced the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs...Just prior to doing this my car was missing, mainly notice while at idle....Compression is 160lbs and there seems to be plenty of spark..The engine now has a knock in it... I have heard that it can be anything from a vaccum leak to a faulty wire.. Does anyone have any ideas that can keep me from going to the shop for a costly repair...Also checked the O2 sensor, which is working fine.

Thank you in advance
Ray
