back-firing & missing when cold 200 1986

If it is mechanical fuel injection (K-Jetronics, no wires to injectors), check the coolant switch and the cold start injector. There are 2 coolant sensors, one is a true sensor for the instrument cluster, the other is just a thermal switch that close when the engine is cold, connecting power to the cold start injector. The cold start injector is an electrical injector, not a mechanical one as the others, and I think they are more sensitive to contamination (not sure on this one).

If it is electronic fuel injection, check the sensor. Electronic injection used to use 2 sensors, one for the instruments and the other for the ECU, but both will be true sensors and not switches.

Not an expert on cars, but I've been in electronics for 18 years: a hobby turned into a profession.
