How about that, an oil change realist! Thanks for your comments. I only used synthetic oil one time with pretty disappointing results. Other than that one aberration I have used nothing but Valvoline oil and Fram filters on everything I drive. My '79 242 went 365K with no problems other than fair wear and tear. It might still be going strong for all I know. A '90 740 was well on the way to 200K, same story. '85 Dodge truck, 4WD, V8, abused and all that is hitting 200K pretty soon. Oil changes happen every 3 to 5K. I live in AZ where heat is a problem but I've not had any catastrophic engine failures and will continue on as usual.
