122 starter same as 240 unit? 120-130

I've got the 75 ignition into the car (late 67 122S), and it seems to run ok, though it has a bit of trouble starting since I don't have anything hooked up to give the coil a full 12V when cranking. I've been looking at the starter in my 242 (1981) and both the 122s, and they look identical except the solenoid is different on the 240, with the extra terminal (number 16) to supply power to the coil when cranking.
So will a junkyard solenoid from a 240 fit the original 122 starter properly?
Or the one from a 75 240 with B20?
I'm thinking that swapping solenoids will be cheaper and cleaner looking than adding a diode. If I can.
Oddly enough my 240 had the wire to terminal 16 removed since before I bought it. Just reconnected it a couple months ago, and it starts instantly every time. Wiring the system in the 122 made me wonder why the 240 didn't work that way...
