Trans swap? 700 1989

Cliff, your right, it is an AW72. What happened was, the trans would sometimes not shift up to fourth, presumably because of the OD dis-engage function, the warning light is always on in varying brigtness. But then I tried driving it and I couldn't get it to shift into third. I took it to an AAMCO and mad sure the guy had worked on this model before. He said it needs a rebuild. So I thought this would be a good time to park it for a bit and see if I can squeze a five speed (M47 right?) onder it. I've read the article on converting to M46 in the FAQ section of this site and I'm confident I can perform all the steps. I'm just having a hard time finding specifc info and specifications.

Thanks,
Aubrey
